I'm sitting here wondering about something and hope that you, dear Internet, will be able to help. The question of the day is: Why do we put milk in cereal? Why not other liquids, like water, orange juice, or V8? (Apart from the obvious, that V8 in Lucky Charms would taste like ass.) I tried to Google this but searching for "Why do we put milk in cereal?" came up with a gazillion hits on a gazillion irrelevant things.I ask this question because A) it came to me on my morning commute, B) it's really ridin' my bus because I can't find the answer, and C) I once put eggnog in my cornflakes (by accident) and it wasn't half bad.
I just need some answers, people.

If the movie Friday taught me anything, it's that using water is essentially the same thing as using milk.
i-66 - THANK YOU! I wondered that... Tomorrow I'm trying water in my cereal instead of milk.
At Weight Watchers I learned that many who watch weight put juice with their cereal instead of milk. There were a few (like me) who looked disturbed by the idea, but the great majority chimed in with promises that it tastes good that way.
Still, I haven't tried it myself.
And, I'm not skinny, either.
I must answer your question with another question: why do we drink the fluid of a cow's udder in any circumstances? That's just vile.
Proper fluids come from a test tube at the Diet Coke factory.
jan - I'm not certain I'd like juice in my cereal... At least with water, there's no taste to interfere with the cereal, you know? But still, I'm willing to give it a try!
wunelle - It does sound gross when you put it that way, but then again, we eat the sex organs of plants (fruit) so why not the fluids from a cow's udder?
I don't know. But now I want to. Cereal really is one of the perfect foods though, with or without milk.
chris - If I were marooned on a deserted island and there were no rum or sea turtles that could carry me back to civilization, and could eat only one food for the rest of my days, my choice would be cereal. I love it. Love. It. Luuuuuuuurve it.
I'm looking for the HAIR in this picture... where is he hiding? Did he grow that fast?
That's funny I think the same thing. For one, I have never liked milk and have always used water and just before I googled this question I put ice tea on my cheerios. I highly recommend it.
