Has there ever been a song that you've known forever, but you hear it as if for the first time? This weekend I re-experienced John Denver's "Annie's Song" for the first time and, let me tell you fine folks, I hope to find love like this some day.*
Annie's Song
You fill up my senses, like a night in a forest.
Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain.
Like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses, come fill me again.
Come let me love you, let me give my life to you.
Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms.
Let me lay down beside you, let me always be with you.
Come let me love you, come love me again.
...Let me give my life to you.
Come let me love you, come love me again.
You fill up my senses, like a night in a forest.
Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain.
Like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses, come fill me again.
*I am ignoring that John Denver divorced his wife, Annie, for whom the song was written. It ruins the story somewhat.

The whole dying / drowning thing just gives me a wee bit of pause. After all, I believe he did crash into the water in his little homebuilt airplane and died / drowned.
wunelle - I'm also ignoring that part. I don't want the "dying/drowning in homemade airplane" part of the John Denver luuuuuuuurve either :)
Awww. I said...AWWWWW.
I love this song too - I sang it at a girlfriend's wedding years ago and as corny as I felt, it was also fittingly beautiful.
My cousin's best friend is an absolute Denver NUT - the first time I met her before she even said hello, she leant in and asked "I am going to decide whether I like you or not based on your answer to the following question. How do feel about John Denver?". Having had the above wedding experience, I was able to quote a few lines of Annie's Song, and that little disaster was thankfully averted. Phew!
marika - The other day I was listening to my "best of" John Denver CD and my boss came in and asked, "WTF are you listening to?" I responded by singing loudly (and badly) to Country Roads. Every so often you just have to rock out to a little John Denver, you know?
